My Books

I appreciate your interest in books written by Audry Fryer (my books!).

Ten years ago, my career as an author began when I self-published my first novel, Going Barefoot in Greener Grass. Then, in 2014, I self-published Secret, Lies, and Apple Pies (a fan favorite) and a short story, Sunset Orange Crush. During that time, I hired an editor to improve Going Barefoot in Greener Grass and re-released the new, improved version.

In the summer of 2016, Until Next Sunday existed only as a collection of over a hundred translated love letters. For the last five years, I have had the privilege of working on this beautiful love story through countless revisions and vast editorial improvements.

The result has been worth all the time and effort! Until Next Sunday was published in February 2022. It is my latest novel and, by far, my best work to date.

After bravely leaving the life she knew to come to America, illness threatens Rosina’s happily ever after. When separated, will letters keep their love alive?

Rosina leaves Italy to build a better life, but the reality in America is nothing like the dream.

She is far from the Italian countryside and the beautiful olive groves where she grew up. Here the work is endless, and the winters are cold and desolate. She never expects to find love in such a place.

 Then she met him.

Gianni, the shoemaker’s apprentice, is gentle, handsome, and everything she never knew she needed in her life.

But when Rosina falls ill and is quarantined, their future is at stake. All she can do is cling to the beautiful letters Gianni writes. Each week she tries to survive the long, lonely days until next Sunday for his brief visit.

Will fate bring Rosina and Gianni together once more? Or are they destined to remain star-crossed forever?

Until Next Sunday is a sweet Historical Romance inspired by a true story. It is based on actual Italian love letters which were discovered a century after they were written (some of which are contained in this book.)

It is a portrait of the times and an authentic immigrant experience. Feel the force with which these two lives find love against all odds.

Secrets, Lies, and Apple Pies

Delicious deceptions abound in this spiced-with-drama, sweet-with-humor novel.

When a random text message appears on her husband’s phone from Josephine, a friend as close as family, Braeburn thinks little of invading Reed’s privacy …until she reads it, “Whatever you do, don’t tell Braeburn.” This trust-threatening message, combined with an unseasonably early snowfall dangerously coating the country roads near her small Pennsylvania town of Scarlet’s Mill, sends Braeburn careening out of control in more heart-pounding ways than one.

Now, baking apple pies for her sister’s business – despite being horrible at preparing a homemade pie crust – may be Braeburn’s only hope for recovery. Since moving into the farmhouse with her mother at the Scarlet family’s orchard, Braeburn has been tormented by questions surrounding the events on the day of her accident. What was Josephine hiding? And, was her entire marriage based on one big lie?

Sunset Orange Crush by Audry Fryer
Sunset Orange Crush, a short story by Audry Fryer

Ali’s life has been in pieces, much like one of her most treasured mementos that fell and shattered a year ago.

Wanting to fix what is broken, Ali returns to the small seaside town where her parents once rented a beachside cottage and where she once spent an unforgettable summer. Though time has slipped away like dry sand through parted fingers, Ali’s memories of sunsets on the beach, a lost friendship, and a first love remain strong. However, in the span of bridging her youth to adulthood, much has changed. As Ali searches for so much more than fond recollections of a more innocent time, she discovers love and loss, the healing power of forgiveness, and grains of the same magic lingering from that one summer.

Going Barefoot in Greener Grass

For best friends Olivia and Bethany, life looks a whole lot better on the other side of the picket fence.

Olivia had the big Italian wedding – a boisterous bash including her pizza shop-owner parents, her superstitious Nonna, her three rowdy brothers, one quirky photographer’s assistant, and her high school sweetheart groom. Now, in her mid-thirties, Olivia lives in a cute suburban home with her husband and three children. Yet she longs for a life beyond the threshold of her front door …for an exciting, carefree life like Bethany’s.

Bethany, on the day of Olivia’s wedding, faced a heartbreaking ultimatum: her fiancé or her budding dream career as a travel writer. Though the scene she made at Olivia’s reception was regretfully dramatic, Bethany never looked back on her choice to ditch Mark. That is, until ten years later when news reaches Bethany of Mark’s upcoming wedding. While sitting in her lonely Manhattan apartment, Bethany wishes for a husband and children to fill the lonely void in her life …for a stable, domestic life like Olivia’s.

On a girls’ get-away to the New Jersey Shore, tensions reach their breaking point as each woman realizes she desires what the other one takes for granted. Spurred forward by each other’s honest yet stinging comments, Bethany and Olivia set out to create the lives they wished they had. Roles become reversed, a marriage and a career hang in the balance, and the amazing power of true friendship prevails.

A fun ride with relatable characters, humor, and unexpected plot twists, Going Barefoot in Greener Grass is a warm story of friendship weaved into a satisfying tale about never giving up on your dreams.
