How to Get the Best Amazon Prime Day Book Deals and More

To make the most of this shopping event (which, let’s face it, is like Black Friday in July), I’m filling you in on expert shopping advice from the pros. Ready? Let’s get to it!

Be a Prime Member or Start Your Free Trial

Amazon Prime Day officially begins on July 11, 2023, at 3 am Eastern time and lasts 48 hours, ending on July 12, 2023. To get the deals, you must be an Amazon Prime Member.

If you’re not yet a member, you can still get access by starting a free 30-day trial! Remember, Prime Members get free shipping and fast delivery.

Open a Prime Visa Card for Big Rewards

If you frequently shop on Amazon, now is the best time to open a Prime Visa. For a limited time, instantly upon approval, you’ll receive a $200 Amazon Gift Card that you can use right away. Hey book lovers, use that $200 toward a new Kindle Paperwhite and use the balance on one of the summer’s hottest books!

Plus, during the Prime Day event, earn 6% back on Amazon.com and Whole Foods Market. For the rest of the year, Prime Visa holders get 5% back an eligible Prime membership. There are no annual fees and no foreign transaction fees.

Shop Before it Starts with Buy with Prime Deals

Get a head start on the savings! Buy with Prime gives you discounts at third-party retailers. Get Buy with Prime Deals by checking out with your Amazon Prime account. Many of these Buy with Prime deals have already begun, so you don’t have to wait to get in on the savings right now!

Get Access to Invite-Only Deals

Prime Day 2023 has a new feature, Invite-Only Deals, for items Amazon expects will sell out quickly, such as tech picks with major deals. These invite-only deals give you the best chance to get the biggest deals on some of the hottest discounts.

How do Amazon Prime Day Invite-Only deals work?

Go to the Deals page on Amazon. When you select a product with an invite-only deal, you’ll see a yellow button with “Request Invite” under the deal.

For example, Fire TV 43″ Omni Series (great for watching movies and tv series based on your favorite books) is reduced from $399.99 to a whopping $99.99 for Invite-Only. Once you click the “Request Invite” button, you’ll receive an email on how to proceed and order it.

Get Alerts for Deals of the Day

If you’ve got a case of FOMO (Fear Of Missing Out), you can create alerts and deal notifications based on your recent searches and viewed items in the Amazon app. Once Prime Day launches, you’ll receive push notifications on available deals.

Be Ready for Lightning Deals

Why would you want to enable alerts and notifications? Because Lightning Deals strike fast, without much warning, and never in the same place twice! These limited-time deals on Amazon run for only a few hours. Lightning deals happen all year long on Amazon, but on Prime Day, they’re like a Cat 5 hurricane.

Repeat after me, “Alexa, What are Your Deals?”

Amazon will be issuing offers exclusively available through Alexa, Amazon’s voice-powered digital assistant. Get access to deals not available elsewhere or get the heads up on certain deals an hour or so before they’re announced on the Amazon website.

You can download the Alexa app if you don’t own an Alexa-enabled device like an Echo Dot smart speaker.

Check Other Big Retailers with Competing Sale Promos

They say imitation is the sincerest form of flattery, so Amazon should be blushing over several major retailers jumping onto the bandwagon with their own random bonanza of sales and promos. Take advantage of the copycat July sales at Target, Walmart, and Best Buy.

Have Fun and Shop Smart

Prime Day can be super exciting, so have fun with it, shop smart within your budget, and remember this isn’t your only chance for great deals this year. There’s likely to be another Prime Day sale event this coming fall, followed by Black Friday and Cyber Monday.

Hopefully, you’ll score great deals on a few new books to add to your shelf or a Kindle you’ve been waiting for the right time to buy. Good luck!
